Live Like A Local - E.B. Hickson, Beachside Office Manager
Posted On Tuesday, April 04, 2017
E.B. came to Charleston with her husband and daughter 16 years ago. She and her family had decided that Mt. Pleasant would be a good place to live after her husband retired from the NAVY. Her father owned a real estate company in Maryland, so it was natural for her to work as an office Manager for Beachside. She has been with Beachside for nine years. Working for Beachside you are a part of the Hollingsworth family, and it makes coming to work every day a pleasure.
- Being on the water, whether it
is on our boat or sitting on the beach with a good book. The warm season
in the Charleston area allows us to take advantage of being on the water
for 6 or more months. Viewing sunsets on the water by boat in the
Lowcountry is the best!
- Going to concerts, festivals,
musicals and more. There is always something going on in Charleston year
round, it is up to the individual to take advantage of these events. A few
of my recent favorites were the Oyster Roast at Boone Hall, Darius Rucker
CMT Instant Jam concert at the Windjammer and a Cirque Du Soleil show at
the North Charleston Coliseum.
- Choosing a place to dine out is
tough, because there are so many great places to eat. 2 of my favorites
are On-Forty One, which serves southern cuisine with all fresh vegetables
from local farms. For reservations call 843-352-9235. Another favorite is
to go to McCann’s Irish Pub. This is an authentic Irish pub, as the owners
and most of the employees are Irish. The food here is traditional Irish
fare, with lots of flavor! Entertainment here is very good, as many Irish
bands and sings perform!
- If there is nothing to do,
reading a good book on my back screen porch is a great way to relax. A few
of my favorite southern writers are Dorthea Benton Frank, Mary Alice
Monroe and Pat Conroy. Reading any of their books always takes me into
their colorful stories about the south for hours!
